Coding Bootcamp Grad Falls in Love With His New Career (and JavaScript)

Before attending our bootcamp, Jon Abrams worked in a Systems Administrator role. He was in IT support for about 9 years after the military. He eventually made his switch to development because working in systems admin was not his niche. He felt that he knew a little bit about a lot, but yearned for more extensive knowledge in tech.

When choosing which coding bootcamp to attend, there are a lot of factors that go into play. Many coding bootcamps market themselves off of making a certain salary after bootcamp. While it’s true that people make more money post-bootcamp, money isn’t always everything. At We Can Code IT, our priorities lie with giving students a valuable education which teaches them how to be a developer in the real world.

When choosing which coding bootcamp to attend, there are a lot of factors at hand. Many coding bootcamps market themselves by their post-bootcamp salaries.  While it’s true that people make more money post-bootcamp, money isn’t always everything.

At We Can Code IT, our priorities lie with giving students a valuable education and teaching them how to be a developer in the real world.

Jon had an interest in tech, but did not realize the extent of his passion. Once he enrolled into bootcamp, his true love for coding and JavaScript came alive.

When it comes to the instructors, Jon did not have a negative word to say about his experience with the WCCI team.

“They were extremely helpful and went above and beyond to help every student,” said Jon.

He described his learning experience as a unique one. At We Can Code IT, the instructors do not hand over answers to their students. Instead, instructors guide their students through the process of finding the answer. This way, the student will have comprehended the tech process and can  later discover the answer without assistance.

“I don’t think I would have done as well as I did if they didn’t really challenge us to come up with a solution,” said Jon.

Jon also particularly enjoyed his experience with WCCI’s career service team.

“They put us in touch with employers and provided us with a ton of resources. Anything they would give me, I would apply. I followed their guidelines to a  “T” and found a job right away because of this.”

Jon is overjoyed with his new life after attending our bootcamp. He is a full-stack JavaScript developer who works for Tranztec Solutions. Thanks to We Can Code IT, Jon fell in love with JavaScript. He gets to work with his favorite language and looks back to his time at bootcamp, using the principles of what instructors taught him. He uses these skills on a daily basis.

Jon Abrams Student Quote

“I am definitely direct proof that what they’re teaching, it works, is up to date, [and] it’s what you will use when you’re an employed developer. I still go back to reference notes from classes when I was in the cohort. What they taught me I apply daily.”

Jon continued to look back on his bootcamp experience with gratitude.

“I came into the school looking for a new career and I came out of it with a new life. The program really did change my life and it benefited me in lifelong terms. I have a new career. It’s something I am extremely passionate about. WCCI took it to a new level and made me a developer within 14 weeks. What they are doing works and I have a career for the rest of my life which is a huge feeling.”
