AI-Assisted Web Application Development

Vibe coding for beginners, with databases, sign-in and Git

AI-Assisted Web Application Development is a 10-hour course from We Can Code IT in building database-backed web applications with AI coding tools, often called vibe coding. You build from a written specification, configure a database, user sign-in and access rules, read and change the generated code, manage every version in GitHub, and publish the app after a security scan. It includes 1 hour of coaching and costs $1,000 per person.

Description

Build, configure and publish a database-backed web application with user sign-in and access rules, using AI coding tools directed by a written specification and managed in Git.

Price$1,000Per person
Time10 course hoursOn-demand video and labs, plus 1 hour of coaching
DeliveryOn-demand asynchronous trainingWith online support and 1 hour of coaching
CredentialCertificate of completionFrom We Can Code IT

Your capstone, reviewed by a coach

You finish by building and publishing a working, database-backed app to your own specification, and your coach reviews it with you: the code, the data model and the evidence that it passes its acceptance checks. That review is part of earning your certificate.

Group coaching for teams

Each learner gets 1 hour of coaching. Teams pool their hours into group sessions, so a team of 6 shares 6 hours of group coaching.

About this course

This course teaches you to build real web applications with AI coding tools, the way teams now prototype and ship internal tools. You start from a one-page specification, build the app in Lovable with an AI assistant, and then do the technical work that makes it usable: a relational database in Lovable Cloud, sign-in, access rules so each user sees only their own data, version control in GitHub, and publishing after Lovable's security scan. Every lab starts from a provided starter project, so your time goes into building and configuring. You finish with a working, database-backed app built to your own specification and live on the web.

Who it is for

This course is for staff who build internal web tools, prototypes or client-facing pages, such as operations and program staff, analysts, coordinators and designers, and for entrepreneurs and founders building their first product.

Prerequisites

Comfortable using a web browser and everyday software; no coding experience is needed

Requirements

Any computer with a modern browser

A paid Lovable plan for the month you take the course: the free plan's daily build credits are not enough for the labs. The database and sign-in use Lovable Cloud, which draws on your plan's monthly Cloud credits. A custom domain also needs a paid plan.

A free GitHub account

Access to an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT, following your employer's data privacy rules

What you will be able to do

  • You will be able to build a multi-page web application from a written specification using an AI app builder and an AI assistant.
  • You will be able to configure a relational database with tables, relationships and row-level access policies.
  • You will be able to implement user sign-in and role-based access so each user sees only the records they are allowed to see.
  • You will be able to read and modify AI-generated front-end and database code, and explain what each part does.
  • You will be able to manage changes with Git commits in GitHub, roll back a broken change, and debug errors using logs and an AI assistant.
  • You will be able to run a security scan, fix the issues it flags, and publish the app to a live web address.

Syllabus

1

AI app builders and the generated code stack 1 hour

How AI app builders generate code, Front end, database and sign-in, Where generated code goes wrong, Data privacy with AI tools.

Lab: You will generate a one-page app, open its code, and identify the front end, data and sign-in parts and three defects.
2

Specifications that AI can build from 1.5 hours

Users and screens, Data model, Acceptance checks, Turning a specification into build prompts.

Lab: You will write a one-page specification with a data model and acceptance checks for your own app.
3

Building the first version 1.5 hours

Prompting from a specification, Pages, navigation and forms, Reading what the AI changed, Testing against acceptance checks.

Lab: You will build the first version of your app in Lovable and test it against your acceptance checks.
4

Version control with Git and GitHub 1.5 hours

Connecting a project to GitHub, Commits and history, Comparing versions, Rolling back a change.

Lab: You will connect your app to GitHub, make three committed changes, and roll one back on purpose.
5

Databases, sign-in and access rules 1.5 hours

Tables and relationships in Lovable Cloud, Sign-in providers, Row-level security policies, Roles and permissions, Data you should never store.

Lab: Starting from a provided schema, you will add a database and sign-in, then write access policies so each user can read and change only their own records.
6

Debugging generated code 0.5 hours

Reading error messages and logs, Asking an AI assistant to explain code, Breaking out of fix loops.

Lab: You will find and fix two planted defects in a starter app using logs and an AI assistant.
7

Capstone: finish, scan and publish 2.5 hours

Specification, Database and access rules, Sign-in, Version history, Security scan, Publishing and custom domains.

Lab: You will finish your app against its acceptance checks, run Lovable's security scan and fix what it flags, publish the app, and walk your coach through the code, data model and history.

Frequently asked questions

What is vibe coding?

Vibe coding means building software by describing what you want to an AI tool and letting it write the code. This course teaches the disciplined version: you start from a written specification, check the AI's work against acceptance checks, and keep every change in GitHub.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. You need to be comfortable with a browser. You will learn to read and change the code the AI writes, which is the skill that separates a working app from a demo.

Which tools does the course use?

Lovable to build and publish the app, Lovable Cloud for the database and sign-in, GitHub for version control, and an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT for specifications and debugging.

Is a vibe-coded app secure?

Not by default. Lovable scans for common mistakes before you publish, and this course has you fix what the scan flags and set access rules so users see only their own data. Testing and securing an app in depth is covered in Security Testing and Code Review for AI-Generated Web Applications.

What does the coaching include?

Each learner gets 1 hour of coaching. Your coach reviews your capstone with you and answers questions as you work through the labs. Teams pool their hours into group sessions, so a team of 6 shares 6 hours of group coaching.

How long does it take and what does it cost?

10 course hours of on-demand video and labs plus 1 hour of coaching, for $1,000 per person. A paid Lovable plan for the month of the course is extra.
