Description
Prepare for exam DP-600 by learning to prepare data, build lakehouses and warehouses, and manage semantic models in Microsoft Fabric.
About this course
This course covers the three skill areas Microsoft measures on exam DP-600: maintaining an analytics solution, preparing data, and implementing semantic models. Because preparing data is nearly half the exam, the largest share of your time goes to getting, transforming, and querying data with SQL, KQL, and DAX. You finish by building and tuning a semantic model, including Direct Lake, in your own Fabric workspace.
Who it is for
This course is for data analysts, BI developers, and analytics engineers who prepare and enrich data, secure analytics assets, and build semantic models alongside architects, engineers, and administrators.
Prerequisites
Experience building reports or models in Power BI
Working knowledge of SQL queries
Some exposure to DAX; KQL experience is helpful but not required
Requirements
Requires a Windows PC
Power BI Desktop, which runs only on Windows, for the semantic model and .pbip work
A Microsoft Fabric trial (free for a limited time, if your tenant administrator allows it) or a paid Fabric capacity, with a work or school account
A modern web browser for the Fabric portal
Exam
Exam DP-600: Implementing Analytics Solutions Using Microsoft Fabric (Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate) (DP-600). This course prepares you for exam DP-600, and one exam attempt voucher is included. Most learners need additional self-study beyond the course hours, including hands-on time in a Fabric trial or capacity, DAX practice, and the free Microsoft practice assessment. Passing is not guaranteed. Microsoft is updating the English exam on October 19, 2026 with a minor change to querying and analyzing data and no change to domain weights.
What you will be able to do
- You will be able to set up Fabric workspaces with the right access, sensitivity, and governance settings.
- You will be able to manage the development lifecycle with version control, .pbip projects, and deployment pipelines.
- You will be able to ingest data and choose between a lakehouse, warehouse, or eventhouse for a given need.
- You will be able to transform data into a star schema and query it with SQL, KQL, and DAX.
- You will be able to build a semantic model with DAX measures and Direct Lake and diagnose its performance.
