Description
Prepare for exam AI-901 by learning core AI concepts and building simple generative AI, speech, vision, and extraction apps in Microsoft Foundry.
About this course
This course prepares you for exam AI-901, which replaced AI-900 on June 30, 2026 and is now the only exam for the Azure AI Fundamentals certification. You start with responsible AI and how generative models work, then spend more than half the course building small Python apps and a single agent in Microsoft Foundry, matching the weight Microsoft gives to hands-on work on the exam. The course follows the AI-901 skills outline published as of April 15, 2026.
Who it is for
This course is for people starting out in AI solution development, such as junior developers, IT staff, data analysts, and technical business analysts who want a recognized foundation in Azure AI.
Prerequisites
Basic Python syntax (variables, functions, and calling a library)
Familiarity with Azure resources and the Azure portal
General awareness of REST APIs, SDKs, and command-line tools
Requirements
A modern web browser for the Azure portal and Microsoft Foundry
An Azure subscription for hands-on labs; Azure usage is paid and billed to the subscription, beyond any free credit Microsoft offers new accounts, so delete lab resources when you finish
Python installed locally, or a browser-based coding environment
Exam
Exam AI-901: Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals (Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Fundamentals) (AI-901). This course prepares you for exam AI-901, and one exam attempt voucher is included. AI-901 replaced AI-900, which retired on June 30, 2026. More than half of AI-901 covers building lightweight Python apps in Foundry, so most learners need additional self-study beyond the course hours, especially if you are new to Python, along with labs in an Azure subscription and the practice assessment on AI Skills Navigator. Passing is not guaranteed. Fundamentals certifications do not expire.
What you will be able to do
