Description
Build an end-to-end analytics solution in Microsoft Fabric with a lakehouse, dataflows, pipelines, a notebook, a warehouse, and a Direct Lake semantic model.
About this course
This introductory certificate course adds the Microsoft Fabric data platform to the Power BI skills you already have, and it is not preparation for the DP-600 exam. You will land data in a lakehouse with Dataflows Gen2, schedule it with a pipeline, clean it with a guided notebook, and query it through the warehouse and SQL analytics endpoint, finishing with a Direct Lake semantic model and a report built on your own Fabric data.
Who it is for
This course suits Power BI analysts moving into analytics engineering, and data staff whose employer has bought or is trialing Microsoft Fabric.
Prerequisites
Working Power BI skills, such as building models and measures
Ability to read basic SQL queries
Access to a Fabric capacity or a Fabric trial that your tenant administrator allows
Requirements
Requires a Windows PC
Microsoft Fabric runs in a web browser, but the Power BI Desktop parts of the course are Windows only
A paid Fabric capacity or a free Fabric trial (60 days); your tenant administrator may need to allow the trial
The Fabric trial does not include Copilot or other AI experiences, and the course does not use them
A Microsoft work account in your employer's tenant
What you will be able to do
- You will be able to explain how OneLake, workspaces, and capacities fit together and start a Fabric trial.
- You will be able to build a lakehouse and load data into it with Dataflows Gen2.
- You will be able to create a pipeline that orchestrates a load and runs on a schedule.
- You will be able to transform raw data into a clean table using a guided notebook.
- You will be able to query lakehouse and warehouse data through the SQL analytics endpoint.
- You will be able to build a Direct Lake semantic model and a report on top of your Fabric data.
