Description
Build the hardware, networking, operating system and security skills of an IT support technician, and prepare for both CompTIA A+ exams, 220-1201 and 220-1202.
About this course
CompTIA A+ requires passing two exams from the same series, Core 1 (220-1201) and Core 2 (220-1202), and this course covers the domains of both. You will work through hardware, mobile devices, networking, virtualization and cloud, then move to Windows administration, security and the troubleshooting methods support technicians use every day. Practice with performance-based questions is built into each module so you are ready for the hands-on parts of the exams.
Who it is for
This course is for help desk technicians, IT support specialists, desktop support staff and junior system administrators. It also suits employees moving into a first IT support role.
Prerequisites
Basic computer literacy, including installing software and navigating files and settings
CompTIA recommends 12 months of hands-on experience in an IT support role
No formal prerequisite certification is required
Requirements
Requires a Windows PC
Hands-on labs administer Windows; a Windows virtual machine on another computer also works
Exam

Each exam has up to 90 questions in 90 minutes, including performance-based questions. Most learners need additional self-study and hands-on practice beyond the course hours, especially without IT support experience. Passing is not guaranteed.
