Description
Take your Power BI work further with advanced DAX, Query Editor transformations, spatial analytics, R integration, and the security and governance needed to deploy it.
About this course
This course is for people who already build working Power BI reports and models and now need the harder techniques. You will write advanced DAX patterns, handle messy sources in the Query Editor, map data with ArcGIS for Power BI, and bring R into your reports. You will finish by tuning performance and securing a model so it can be deployed and governed with confidence.
Who it is for
This course suits data analysts, BI analysts, and report developers who maintain production Power BI content that other people rely on.
Prerequisites
You already build Power BI reports and basic data models
You are comfortable writing simple DAX measures
Completion of WCCI's Data Model Design Using Power BI course, or equivalent experience, is recommended
Requirements
Requires a Windows PC
Power BI Desktop (free, Windows only)
R installed locally for the R module
R visuals in the Power BI service need a paid Power BI Pro or Premium Per User licence
Publishing to a shared workspace and testing row-level security need a paid Power BI Pro or Premium Per User licence or a Fabric capacity
ArcGIS for Power BI must be enabled by your tenant administrator
What you will be able to do
- You will be able to write DAX measures that use variables, running totals, moving averages, and calculated tables.
- You will be able to clean and normalise messy sources in the Query Editor using conditional columns, error handling, and merges.
- You will be able to build a spatial analysis in ArcGIS for Power BI with reference layers, buffers, and drive-time areas.
- You will be able to use an R script as a data source and add an R visual to a report, and explain its licensing and refresh limits.
- You will be able to find and fix slow visuals with Performance Analyzer by reducing columns and granularity.
- You will be able to secure a model with row-level security roles, workspace roles, sensitivity labels, and endorsement.
