Stella Law entered We Can Code IT from an unusual trajectory. With her master’s degree in Art Policy and Administration from The Ohio State University, she had been working in nonprofit fundraising for 12 years. Blue-collar Backlash: Are We Too Arrogant in IT?
Some things really get IT folks riled up. One of them is a recent article in Wired claiming that coding is the next big blue collar job. While it sounds like a sign of hope and opportunity, it’s created a backlash amongst IT professionals -- one that uncovers the “belly of the beast.” As an industry insider, I've heard this blue collar job idea unleash fears, assumptions and what sounds like territorial sandbox whining amongst software developers, as in "Here comes more crappy code" or "These guys won't be experienced enough to do what I do."

What are your application requirements?
You'll need a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED. You must be able to commit to at least 90% attendance in order to graduate. You must maintain an 80% grade or above in class. Understand that there will be a lot of homework, expect at least 20 hours a week. You must have good typing skills and be very comfortable using your PC, navigating sites, and the like.
How do I get a job?
Our team works with you from the first week of class until you start you new career. We then engage graduates to assist them in career development. We work on resume and interview skills, your "bucket list" of employers, your career path, and more. You will be introduced to our large network of employer partners throughout the coding bootcamp, and will have a Demo Day where you interview with employers [...]

The CLETeenHack – Coding for Community: Civic Engagement was a 9-week programming cooperative event for greater Cleveland area high school students that began on March 16th and ended in an awards ceremony on May 6th .
