Reflecting Upon Juneteenth

2022-06-17T16:14:21-04:00

Juneteenth, observed on June 20th, is a national holiday celebrating the emancipation of enslaved Americans. Today, we take the time to reflect upon and educate ourselves on previous events in American history. By doing so, we can work towards doing our part in creating a more tolerant and inclusive society.  We invite you to join us in our reflection. During this time, we hope that you think about the impact of social inequity in our communities. One way you might choose to do this is by reviewing the articles linked below. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2021/06/15/juneteenth-2021-history-holiday-how-celebrate/7633328002/ https://www.history.com/news/what-is-juneteenth https://www.nytimes.com/article/juneteenth-day-celebration.html https://nmaahc.si.edu/events/juneteenth
